The Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) program is a master’s degree designed for those who want to go deeper than their undergraduate program. This program is intended for those who want to go deeper into theological and Biblical study, but do not want / need to commit the time to a full Master of Divinity program.
Prerequisites
The M.T.S. program requires a student to already possess a Bachelor’s degree of some sort, though it does not need to be a Bible or theology degree.
Additionally, students that do not have any prior Biblical language credits will be required to take GRK501 - Introduction to Biblical Greek and HBR501 - Introduction to Biblical Hebrew. These are each four (4) credit courses and will not be counted towards the required 48 credits for the degree.
Transfer Credit
A maximum of 16 credits (equivalent to one third of the program) may be transferred to Kehillat Yeshua Messianic Yeshiva's M.T.S. program. Transfer credits must be on the same academic level (graduate), have a letter grade of no less than C, and they must not have been already been applied to obtained a Master’s degree elsewhere.
M.T.S. Requirements for Graduation
A Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) degree will be awarded to students who satisfactorily complete no fewer than 48 credits with a minimum overall GPA of 2.00. The M.T.S. is offered with numerous different concentrations or specializations available, and the student is also able to define their own concentration, provided they receive permission from their mentor and Yeshiva administration. The program requires 12 credits of core classes (given below) as well as at least 24 credits in the student's chosen concentration. Additionally, the M.T.S. requires submission and acceptance of a thesis.
